Winter X Games

A commercial sporting event wherein the focus is on extreme sports – Winter X Games are organized by ESPN – one of the pioneers in the world of sports broadcasting, in the United States of America in January or February. While this is the winter version of X Games, its summer season version – the Summer X Games, are held in July in the United States. Winter X Games were held for the first time at Mountain Resort in Big Bear Lake, California, in 1997. Since then the popularity of this sporting event has increased manifolds. After being held at Crested Butte Mountain Resort (Colorado) and Mount Snow (Vermont) for two years each, the Games venue was shifted to Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, in 2002 – where they are held even today.
